A modern, dynamic neighborhood salon for you

Located in between Braes Heights, the Houston Medical Center, Bellaire, and Braes Bayou, Sankalpa Studio is a local salon and shop that aims to serve the residents of the surrounding areas, with an emphasis on "serve."

So often in the modern salon, the focus is purely on the artist and the newest trend. At Sankalpa, we want to bring it back to the salon as a place for the client- for the client to unwind, to be heard, to be revived and, of course, to leave feeling beautiful.

The word "Sankalpa" means heartfelt vow or intention, in Sanskrit. It is commonly used in both yoga and meditation as a way to declare what you want for your practice. Sankalpa Studio was designed and opened with the intention of providing positivity- we stock products with an eye towards sustainability, that give back to the world in some way or another and/or that are local so that we can support our own community. We also realize that many of our clients are professionals and parents that are always on the move- we want to provide a place to     pause    and take some time for a little self-care. (Of course, we are happy to provide wi-fi and a desk, if you're unable to escape). This is why, at Sankalpa Studio, when you are thirsty we will offer you a variety of drinks; when you are cold, we will offer you a blanket, when you are happy, we will laugh with you; when sad, we'll offer you a shoulder. We appreciate that you choose to spend your time with us. We choose to spend it with you, too.   ​
